Dixie is a 4 year old female Hound Cross and in foster care in the Durham area of the UK.
Rescued from the streets of Pegeia, Cyprus, sweet Dixie has shown incredible resilience and courage on her path to finding a forever home.
After her brave rescue on March 11, 2024, she spent months at a local shelter before finally making her journey to England on June 29, 2024, where she joined a Specialist Foster Home dedicated to helping dogs like her recover from trauma.
Though she can still be a bit shy and startled by loud noises, she has made remarkable progress since arriving in the UK. Now, she’s ready to find her forever family!
Dixie is clever, gentle-hearted, playful, and curious. She absolutely loves other dogs and even gets along with parrots! She enjoys joyful walks, exploring new places, and snuggling after a fun play session. She is house-trained and crate-trained.
Dixie is seeking a calm, understanding home familiar with nervous or timid dogs. A confident resident dog would help her to help her thrive.
Dixie’s new family will understand that she will need gentle introductions to new people and places at her pace. She will enjoy regular walks and adventures—she loves to explore!
Dixie will need time and patience and love and reassurance but in return she will give daily smiles with her quirky side-eye look and joyful spirit and will love unconditionally.
