A cat once left out on the streets has turned into the ultimate lap cat, eager to be everyone’s “weighted blanket.”

Mango, an orange and white cat, was left to wander the streets after being turned away from the bodega that had once been his home.
Life outdoors was tough for a friendly cat like Mango. Having to fend for himself and scavenge for food left him weary, hungry, and longing for a place to call home. When volunteers at Greenpoint Cats learned about his situation, they quickly came to his aid.
Once he was brought inside, his true personality came to life. “He’s large and in charge… of your lap,” the rescue shared.

Mango is around four years old and FIV+, but his energy and spirit remain completely unstoppable. “It simply means he has a slightly lowered immune system, but it doesn’t stop him from living a full, happy, and healthy life.”
Shortly after arriving in foster care, he confidently explored every nook and cranny, making the whole house feel like it was his own.

When his humans settled in to watch TV, he would lounge with them, contentedly kneading with his paws.
Before long, they discovered one of his most endearing traits: this gentle giant would flop onto their lap, wrapping them in a warm, affectionate hug. “The ultimate lap cat, Mango, wants to be your personal weighted blanket.”

As much as Mango enjoys his athletic antics—like leaping from chair to chair—he adores snuggling with his people even more. He’s happiest when he’s warming their laps and keeping them company, especially when they need a little extra dose of feline comfort.
“He is not a shy guy, but he likes pets and kisses to be on his terms. Mango will absolutely climb on top of you and snooze until your legs fall asleep.”

Mango is a champion biscuit-maker, and before settling into a cozy corner of the couch, he likes to warm up by kneading a blanket or a shirt. Once he’s satisfied, he leans back like a distinguished gentleman, ready for some TV.
“He enjoys watching TV, especially the Great British Bake Off, as he is quite the biscuit-maker himself.”

When he gets the zoomies, he can launch himself across impressive distances with flawless landings and impeccable balance. He’s both strong and agile, effortlessly catching any moving toy that crosses his path. “He is a natural-born hunter and a renowned athlete.”
As he unwinds with his people, he loves to stay connected by gently resting a paw on their leg or foot.

Mango is thrilled to have a roof over his head, plenty of good food, and a caring foster family that adores his on-demand snuggles.
He loves to curl up on their lap, doting on them with his full body weight, all while kneading and purring happily.
