A cat went into a kind person’s car and acted as if she belonged there, ready to turn her life around.

While driving home from school, Caitlin, a teacher, spotted a black and white cat stranded in the middle of the expressway, desperately searching for safety.
She could hardly believe her eyes. As a volunteer with Little Wanderers NYC (an animal rescue), she knew she had to help. She pulled over carefully and signaled for the oncoming cars to slow down. Once the road was clear, she guided the cat into her car.
The cat instantly leaned into her rescuer, as if thanking her for saving her life.

Once she was safe from the whizzing traffic, the cat, Hendricks, began to relax. She took a few curious sniffs around the car before making her way over to the driver’s seat and finally settling comfortably in Caitlin’s lap.

She melted into Caitlin’s arms, taking in all the love and comfort she could.
No one knew how long she had roamed the streets and braved the treacherous highway, but the injuries on her paw pads told their own story. She nestled close to her rescuer as if to ensure she would never be left alone again.

Hendricks had likely known a home once but somehow ended up abandoned. When she was safe in the car, she sought affection and curled up peacefully for the ride, feeling completely at ease.

When Caitlin talked to a director at Little Wanderers NYC, they quickly agreed to take in the cat and provide her with the loving care and support she needed to thrive.
Hendricks was then fully vetted, spayed, and treated for her injured paws. Free from hunger and the harsh realities of the outdoors, she kept close to her human, ready to embark on a new chapter.

Thanks to many volunteers, Hendricks found a safe and welcoming place to start her healing journey. Her foster mom set up a cozy nook for the sweet tuxedo, who wasted no time making herself at home.
Hendricks was so grateful to be indoors, her happy purrs gently filling the air.

She was easily content, finding joy in her new bed, her favorite toys, and her bottomless bowl of food. Brimming with happiness, she would roll onto her side for belly rubs, soaking up every bit of love from her foster mom.
With her days of wandering behind her, Hendricks now has a dedicated team of supporters helping her find her happily ever after.
