Please meet the beautiful Barney Rubble – an 8 year old male Whippet Cross with a heart full of love and some serious main character energy. This lad might just be the unluckiest dog in the UK.
Barney was originally rehomed through us, but heartbreak hit when his adopter unexpectedly passed away. He was returned, then rehomed again, only for that to fall through due to withheld medical info and a support network that didn’t hold up. 
Third time’s the charm, right? Let’s make sure it is for this sweet, resilient boy.
Barney is a gorgeous white/brindle Whippet cross that weighs 22kg and is approx 8 years old. He was saved from the Chinese meat market by Candy’s Rescue. Yes, dogs are food in China.
If you don’t know, the meat markets are absolutely evil and the treatment the dogs get and the things they have seen is nothing short of hell. Barney is one of the lucky ones and has come to us in the UK to find his forever home.
If you are not aware, there are no animal welfare laws in China so no dog is ever safe there, which is why the dogs are sent overseas to be rehomed, to make sure they are safe and loved for life!
On arrival Barney was quite overwhelmed, but it didn’t take him long to attach himself to us. He had a 14 hour flight followed by a few hours’ drive and all he wanted was to have a snuggle with me. It’s very easy to fall in love with this adorable little lad.
I mean, just look at him. He is ready for his future, away from the horrors of the Chinese meat market. On arrival Barney had a dental and needed to have 7 teeth removed. He won’t need any further routine medical work.
Barney is fit as a fiddle and what a diva he has now become. Barney is quite literally amazing. He will snuggle with you every opportunity he gets, it’s adorable! So calm and well-behaved, I just know the perfect home is waiting patiently for a dog just like him!
Barney is always so happy to see you. He will literally throw himself at you for a cuddle. He really is the sweetest little lad. Barney will steal your bed, and your heart. He is strikingly beautiful and gets compliments wherever he goes, which of course, he is happy to lap up!
Barney is dog friendly with all size dogs. As long as he is comfy, that’s all he really cares about! Barney is a real couch potato of a dog.
He is very quiet and as much as he will walk for miles, he takes some convincing to get out of bed or off the sofa, particularly if it’s cold or wet – and who can blame him! He certainly loves to snuggle with the other dogs, but even better, his humans. He is a real snuggle bug!
Barney must have adequate garden space for zoomies, or failing that, access to a secure field where he can run freely and safely. He doesn’t want lots of exercise and is happy being a lazy boy most of the time, but he does like to shift up a gear and run when the mood takes him!
He is fantastic on the lead and is a work in progress off lead. Everything is new to him and he is particularly captivated by low-flying birds which he will never have seen before. Sometimes he watches them, other times he will chase.
He will do anything for food or a cuddle! He would love a family to play with him and keep him occupied. He loves a walk and loves to greet everyone he meets!
He is house trained and non-destructive – happy to be left snoozing on the sofa by himself. Absolutely adores other dogs so could happily live with a companion.
Barney can live with children age 13 years plus. Barney is a gorgeous happy little lad that so desperately needs a forever home and family to grow up with.
Barney is neutered, microchipped, de-flead and wormed. He has also been tested for rabies and Brucella prior to entering the country.
